ADB SW is an owner-led building company. That is not a slogan — it means the person who quotes your job is the person running it.
Anthony founded ADB SW and runs it from Paignton. Every project goes through him personally — the first site visit, the quote, the programme, the awkward mid-build decisions and the final walk-through.
He brings over 25 years of construction industry experience to that, across extensions, loft conversions, renovations, structural alterations and general building. It is the reason the company takes on the projects a lot of local trades avoid: full-house refurbishments, structural work in older buildings, and extensions that have to be made to work with what is already there.
What clients tend to mention afterwards is not the workmanship — they expect that — but the communication. Knowing what is happening this week. Getting an honest answer when something is found behind a wall. Being told when a day is lost rather than working it out from an empty driveway.

What owner-led actually changes
On a large contract, the person who prices the job, the person who plans it and the person on site are three different people, and information gets lost between them. Most of the complaints homeowners have about builders are really complaints about that gap.
With one owner-director carrying the job from enquiry to handover, there is nowhere for that information to go missing. If a decision was agreed on site on a Tuesday, the person who agreed it is the person who priced it.
It also means we take on a deliberately limited number of projects at a time. That is a constraint, and we would rather be honest about our availability than overcommit and let a programme slip.
